Surah 100 · 11 verses

Al-'Adiyat

العاديات

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

1

وَٱلْعَـٰدِيَـٰتِ ضَبْحًا

By the racers, panting,

Wal'aadi yaati dabha

Allah takes an oath on the horses that run so hard that their breath can be heard.

فَٱلْمُورِيَـٰتِ قَدْحًا

And the producers of sparks [when] striking

Fal moori yaati qadha

And He also takes an oath on the horses who, when their shoes strike the stones with force, sparks fly.

فَٱلْمُغِيرَٰتِ صُبْحًا

And the chargers at dawn,

Fal mugheeraati subha

فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًا

Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,

Fa atharna bihee naq'a

فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا

Arriving thereby in the center collectively,

Fawa satna bihee jam'a

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌ

Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.

7

وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ

And indeed, he is to that a witness.

Wa innahu 'alaa zaalika la shaheed

8

وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ

And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.

Wa innahu lihubbil khairi la shadeed

9

۞ أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ

But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered

Afala ya'lamu iza b'uthira ma filquboor

Does this human, deceived by the worldly life, not know that when Allah will resurrect the dead from their graves and take them out of the earth to take them to account and requite them, that the matter will not be as he imagines?

10

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ

And that within the breasts is obtained,

Wa hussila maa fis sudoor

11

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ

Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.

Inna rabbahum bihim yauma 'izil la khabeer
