القارعة
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
Wa maa adraaka mal qaari'ah

O Messenger! And what do you know of this hour that strikes the hearts of people because of the severity of its horrors? It is the Day of Judgement.

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ
It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
Yauma ya koonun naasu kal farashil mabthooth

On the day when the hearts of people will be struck, they will be like locusts, dispersed here and there.

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ
And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
Wa ta koonul jibalu kal 'ihnil manfoosh

And the mountains will be like carded wool, in the way they will move from their places with force.

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
Fa-amma man thaqulat mawa zeenuh

As for the one whose good deeds will outweigh his evil deeds.

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
He will be in a pleasant life.
Fahuwa fee 'ishatir raadiyah

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
But as for one whose scales are light,
Wa amma man khaffat mawa zeenuh

And as for the one whose evil deeds outweigh his good deeds.

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ
His refuge will be an abyss.
Fa-ummuhu haawiyah
